Are you addicted?
Why do we profess to want one thing, and then drive it away?
We say we want love, yet we refuse God's love or even to love ourselves. We say we want happiness, but we focus only on the things that make us miserable. We say we want life's riches, but we think money is the root of all evil rather than God's gift to create the lives we want to live.
I'll tell you why. Because we're addicted to suffering. Plain and simple, we just can't get enough of it, and constantly test our ability to get more. And since misery loves company, we spread it around to others.
So don't give me this bull about wanting a better life. Because I think you like it just the way it is. After all, you made that bed.
Of course, you can unmake it. Or better yet, roll over to the other side where the sheets are clean and waiting to wrap you in your dreams.
Until then, enjoy your nightmare.
